Waste-composition-dependent ‘HBM’ model parameters based on degradation experiments

چکیده
Municipal solid waste (MSW) is biodegradable in landfills under anaerobic conditions. The evolution of the hydro-biochemical-mechanical (HBM) processes during degradation investigated first through experiments and subsequently modelling. Three well-characterised MSW specimens from US landfill sites with significantly different compositions ranging ‘waste-rich’ to ‘soil-rich’ were degraded large-scale experimental set-ups that enabled simultaneous characterisation time. closely monitored are modelled using a two-stage model which incorporated HBM model. This allows an assessment performance as function composition derivation waste-composition-dependent parameters. performed fairly well capturing biochemical physical behaviours. An increase material specimen corresponds activity (volatile fatty acids methanogenic biomass accumulation), higher rate organic fraction depletion, settlement methane production. However, found overpredict production for all specimens.

mortality forecasting based on lee-carter model
over the past decades a number of approaches have been applied for forecasting mortality. in 1992, a new method for long-run forecast of the level and age pattern of mortality was published by lee and carter. this method was welcomed by many authors so it was extended through a wider class of generalized, parametric and nonlinear model. this model represents one of the most influential recent d...

Pulse-chase experiments are often used to study the degradation of macromolecules such as proteins or mRNA. Considerations for the choice of pulse length include the toxicity of the pulse to the cell and maximization of labeling. In the general case of non-exponential decay, varying the length of the pulse results in decay patterns that look different. Analysis of these patterns without conside...
متن کاملOptimum parameters of nonlinear integrator using design of experiments based on Taguchi method
For many physical systems like vehicles, acceleration can be easily measured for the respective states. However, the outputs are usually affected by stochastic noise disturbance. The mentioned systems are often sensitive to noise and structural uncertainties. Furthermore, it is very difficult to estimate the multiple integrals of the signal, acceleration to velocity and velocity to position. In...
متن کاملEstimating Degradation Model Parameters from Character Images
This paper discusses the use of character images to determine the parameters of an image degradation model. The acute angles in character images provide information used to find the model parameters. Three experiments are conducted to evaluate the use of characters. In the first experiment, large quantities of corners from character images are used to investigate how their contribution affects ...
متن کاملParameters Identification and Analysis of Pneumatic Cylinders Friction Model Based on Experiments
Although LuGre Model is considered as a nice friction model that can describe the friction phenomenon of pneumatic cylinders comprehensively, its parameters are hard to be defined in the real cases. In this paper, a new experimental bench, on which the moving of pneumatic cylinder is driven by a servo motor accurately, is developed to study the friction characteristics of the cylinders. Based o...
